What is a Private/Independent Midwife?
An independent midwife is a fully qualified and registered midwife who works outside of the NHS, offering personalised, one-to-one maternity care directly to clients. Independent midwives are able to offer continuity of care to families throughout pregnancy. They are able to tailor care to your needs, including longer appointments, home visits, and holistic support.

You’ll be looked after by Midwife Meg throughout your pregnancy (and postnatal period if you chose). This builds a trusting relationship, helps you feel truly known, and can lead to better outcomes for both parent and baby.
You will have control over your maternity care. I will support you to make decisions that are right for you, informed about your options, and empowered to choose the path that’s right for you.
Private care includes extensive birth education and preparation for early parenting. Together we can plan your birth and recovery, and ensure you feel confident and prepared for the journey ahead.
